Description

The Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS©) 2015 incorporates current medical terminology providing an internationally accepted tool for ranking injury severity. The AIS 15 course is divided into lectures and work sessions in which actual hospital charts are used for coding exercises. 

This will be a live, virtual course.  

Course modules include:

  • Understand the structure, organization, and contents of the AIS
  • Abstract injury data from medical charts
  • Rule out information that is not codeable
  • Distinguish between injuries and outcomes
  • Apply injury coding rules and guidelines specific to each body region
  • Apply rules for calculating the Injury Severity Score (ISS) for multiple body region injuries

The course is designed for trauma nurses, coordinators, registrars, physicians, hospital records personnel, researchers, or engineers who are responsible for injury databases. 

There is a prerequisite requirement for participants to have a minimum of six (6) months experience working with AIS.  

NOTE: Non-NCTTRAC Members will be placed on a waiting list and will be transferred to registration if space becomes available.

Payment is due at the time of registration; NCTTRAC does not invoice facilities for payment. Limit 3 registrants per facility.
