Emergency Medical Task Force – 2 Infectious Disease Response Unit Training

Description
This two-day course is designed to orient and train physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, and paramedics in infectious disease response. EMTF-2 personnel, partners, and attendees will gain knowledge of the Emergency Medical Task Force (EMTF) Infectious Disease Response Unit (IDRU) with EMTF program specific concentration on IDRU personnel protective equipment and IDRU operations. Each attendee will gain knowledge of the Emergency Medical Task Force (EMTF) IDRU program and knowledge of how to treat high consequence infectious disease patients in hospital settings. This training session is intended to familiarize individuals assigned to the Infectious Disease Response Unit and how the IDRU operates.
The training will consist of including:
• RAC, EMTF, IDRU background
• Pathogens and modes of transmissions
• Behavior in PPE
• Donning and Doffing of IDRU specialized PPE
• Clinical Skills in IDRU PPE
• EMTF Infectious Disease Response Unit equipment familiarization
• Activation, Operations, and Planning
• After Action Review and team-building discussion
