Description

The Society of Trauma Nurses offers the Rural Trauma Outcomes and Performance Improvement Course to provide education and a better understanding of the Performance Improvement process in trauma care to Level 4 and Level 3 (those in small communities or low trauma volume) trauma centers.

The STN TOPIC course is taught to all members of the trauma system team who participate in the on-going assessment, evaluation and improvement of trauma care. TOPIC focuses on the ongoing assessment of the continuum of trauma care with a structured review of the process and trauma patient outcomes with a unique focus on rural trauma center processes. 

The TOPIC course is taught in a 6-hour interactive Modular Format. The course offers practical application from entry level to mature phase of program development. The Modules are taught with a focus on didactic, operational definitions, sample tools, case study examples and take-home points.

IMPORTANT NOTES: 

  • This is a Rural TOPIC course. If you are part of a level I or II facility, you are welcome to register, but please be advised that this course is designed to assist the rural level III & IV facilities with their trauma performance improvement plan and outcome management. If you are currently under a level I or II facility, the Rural TOPIC course may not address all necessary information needed for a successful trauma performance improvement plan for your center. Therefore, it would be recommended that you register for the standard TOPIC course to meet the needs of a level I or II center. 
  • This course may NOT be attended in a group setting. Each registered participant must login separately to view and participate in the course. 
  • Each registrant must participate using a computer and camera/webcam. Please test your settings prior to joining the meeting. 
  • When joining the web session, please ensure to use your full name for the webcam setup. This will help ensure your attendance is properly recorded and will allow the instructors to identify you easily. Please refrain from using your initials, phone number, etc.

Course participants will receive an electronic/digital version of the Rural TOPIC Manual.

 

The Society of Trauma Nurses is accredited as provider of nursing continuing professional development by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation. This activity has been awarded 6.5 contact hours.

Substitutions may be made at any time without an additional charge. A $50 administrative fee will be charged for all refunds. "No shows" are subject to the full conference fee.

Cancellations/substitutions must be made in writing. No refunds or credits will be issued once the course has started. The course is subject to change and/or cancellation.
